Overview
UK Grid Connection were instructed to carry out the following system studies, design and planning for Staythorpe 1GW solar and battery storage connection.
Design and develop whole scheme detailed single line diagram from 400kV user bay, 400/132kV substation, 132/33kV substation and 4 No remote end 132/33kV substations.

Planning Design Support
Client: Elements Green | Scheme: Staythorpe 400/132/33kV Solar & BESS Connection
Overview
UK Grid Connections were instructed to provide design services to support the client planning application process which included.
Produce civil and electrical layouts
400kV Transformer bund civil design and sections
400kV Bay layouts, civil, plant and equipment
Detailing fire pool zones on layouts
Detailing oil interceptor tanks and pipework
Excavation sections
Specify and detail enhanced boundary security fencing, gates and access
Produce portable relay room elevations and layouts with raised anti flood steel structures and access
Produce containerized switch room elevations and layouts with raised anti flood steel structures and access
Produce 132kV civil, plant and equipment layouts and elevation
Produce drainage layouts and detailing

33kV Cable Route Feasibility Study
Client: Elements Green | Scheme: Undisclosed
Overview
UK Grid Connections were instructed to carry a full site 33kV connection feasibility study located in south Wales.
Carry out 33kV route feasibility study on 6kM 33kV cable route
Provide in depth detailed report on cable route risks
Provide GPS coordinate links to each risk area
Provide traffic management requirements for high-risk areas with detail of the impacts of delays
Provide cost forecast for route taking cable route report impacts into account
Advise the client on cost effective alternative cable route with less risk impacts
Detail options for value engineered substation selection
Negotiate final route options with the DNO and local council
Provide viable cost model for final cable route
Outcome:
The client was advised on viable alternative cable route to fit their cost forecast and was provided with clear facts on the risks of their cable route in tern saving the client significant costs and ensuring the scheme remained viable.

33kV Wind Farm Substation
Client: WWE Energy | Scheme: Design, build and Commission
Overview
UK Grid Connection have been awarded the contract to design, build and commission as principal contractor the client wind farm connection located in Northern Scotland, this shall include:
Design of 33kV containerized substation building including small power, heating and lighting
Specification of 33kV switchgear
Specification and design of protection and control
Design and construction of civil substation plinths
Fit out and installation of 33kV containerised substation
Excavation and installation of 33kV cable trench/cable
Carry out all commissioning
Provide SAP services
Manage CDM as PC
Carry out system studies

Forss 3 33kV Wind Farm Substation
Client: Abbey Group | Scheme: Design, build and Commission
Overview
UK Grid Connection have been awarded the contract to design, build and commission as principal contractor the client wind farm connection located in Northern Scotland, this shall include:
Design, supply and build contestable works including 33kV cable route, DNO and customer switchroom
Specification of 33kV switchgear
Specification and design of protection and control
Design and construction of civil substation plinths
Fit out and installation of 33kV containerised substation
Excavation and installation of 33kV cable trench/cable
Carry out all commissioning
